Follow up automatically with subsequences

A subsequence is a short campaign that sits under a campaign and starts on its own. When a lead matches one of its conditions it stops receiving the original campaign and begins the follow-up instead, sent from the same mailbox.

  1. Open the Subsequences tab

Open a campaign and select Subsequences, then choose Add new. Give it a name that says what it is for, such as When interested.

  2. Choose the conditions

Pick any combination of a lead status, a lead activity such as finishing the campaign without replying, or words to look for in a reply. A lead moves across as soon as it matches any one of them.

  3. Write the follow-up emails

Open the Sequence tab and write the steps as you would for any campaign. The first email waits one day by default and takes its subject from the campaign email it follows, so it needs no subject of its own.

  4. Start it

Select Start. A subsequence only pulls leads across while it is running, and it needs at least one condition and one email before it can start.

  5. Watch it work

Leads appear on the subsequence Leads tab as they move across, and its Analytics tab reports on the follow-up separately from the campaign.
